Formal education in Canada has developed from the one room,
low priority rural schoolhouse to a system based on mass production
methodology with excessively large numbers of students in each
school. NCCI believes that a more optimal learning environment
can be achieved using the Micro School Model with a maximum
of two hundred students. The small population enables everyone
at the school to know each other in classes with a low student/teacher
ratio. It creates a more natural workplace and community environment
and ensures quality education, as well as excellence in the
development of each student's potential.
Highlights of our Upper School academic program include:
Science, Design and Technology
At NCCI these programs are central to the academic curriculum.
Our programs teach students about the many factors that influence
our physical world. This combined with a sound knowledge of
mathematics is essential for scientific enquiry. We also utilize
up-to-date software, hardware, and internet access. This helps
to insure that our students are fully prepared for their futures.
Wildfire Outdoor Education Centre for Environmental Studies
At Wildfire, students develop a profound awareness of their
inter-connectiveness with nature.
Performing and Visual Arts
Our arts program focuses on the development of refined craft
in both visual and performing arts, exceeding curriculum requirements
at all levels. Students experience six to ten world-class theatre
performances as part of the audience, as well as from behind
the scenes, inspiring and developing their full appreciation
for all aspects of theatre arts.
Advanced Placement Program
Nancy Campbell Collegiate Institute is pleased to offer our students Advanced Placement (AP®) courses in association with the College Board, the American body of college and high school instructors that has delivered this extraordinary program since 1955. Currently, thousands of promising students participate in this enriched program; Nancy Campbell students are among these high achievers. Advanced Placement courses provide students with college/university level credits for advanced standing when they arrive at post-secondary education institutions. Over 90% of colleges and universities in North America accept Advanced Placement credits.
Nancy Campbell offers a wide range of courses and tutorials to assist students to excel at Advanced Placement exams in sciences, social sciences, languages and arts. The Advanced Placement Program involves completion of standardized exams offered in the month of May at Nancy Campbell. Once completed, the College Board grades the exams. With sufficient scores on AP exams, students are guaranteed the equivalent of first year college/university credits at thousands of outstanding post-secondary institutions worldwide, such as Harvard and the University of Toronto.
Advanced Placement credits are now so widely accepted that they have become an important deciding factor in the awarding of post-secondary scholarships and grants. In addition, studies have shown that students who take Advanced Placement courses are more likely to successfully complete university studies than those who do not. The Advanced Placement program goes a long way to preparing students for their future educational development and endeavours.

From this foundation, they are able to develop and reach their potential, through creativity and independent thought. A balanced emphasis on both intellectual and artistic learning encourages in students an interest to explore their strengths and potentials for the future.
Integral to all teaching at NCCI, The Virtues Project (TM) fosters social awareness and allows children an avenue in which to discuss social and behavioural issues.
The Lower School students take part in Public Speaking Competitions, Science Fair, Invention Fair, Carnaval, Caravan, various physical education activities and also participate in the school’s performance showcase twice a year.
The loving community created at NCCI ensures that students can do anything, for thinking becomes believing and believing in oneself is the key ingredient to personal fulfillment. The faculty shows a commitment to its students that far exceeds the limits of the classroom.
