Nancy Campbell Collegiate scored a perfect 10 and is ranked #1 along
with other schools across Canada according to the annual report on
high schools released by the Fraser
Institute. The Fraser Institute's report titled 'The Report Card
on Ontario's Secondary Schools' analyzed 815 schools in Ontario. Enough
information was collected from the Ministry of Education to rank 568
of these schools. The schools were evaluated according to four indicators:
| > |
The
percentage of advanced level courses |
| > |
The
number of core subject courses such as English, Mathematics
and Science taken in Grade 12/OAC, which is the final year of
high school |
| > |
The
percentage of courses passed in Grades 11, 12 and OAC |
| > |
The
similarity in marks between girls and boys in Grade 12 advanced
English (or French for French schools) and Grade 12 advanced
Mathematics |
The report is intended to help parents make decisions about where
to find quality education for their children. The rankings can be
found at the Fraser Institute's website. The report takes into account
both private, public and separate schools. Sixteen private schools
share the #1 ranking in the province.
Mr. Gordon Naylor, founder of the Nancy Campbell Collegiate Institute,
explained, "When I heard the news, I was very pleased. For
a school that's been in operation for only seven years, it's quite
an accomplishment."
